Bejba Pearl Care Guide

Pearls are living gemstones, formed slowly, layer by layer. Their natural glow and softness are what make them so exquisite and why they require mindful care. With intention, your piece will age beautifully and remain luminous for years to come.

Store with care

Always store your pearls in the cotton pouch provided. When travelling, place the pouch inside the white Bejba box. Keep in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Store flat as hanging pearl strands can deform over time. Store separately from other jewellery to prevent scratching. Allow your pearls to breathe, avoid airtight containers or sealed plastic bags, which can dehydrate them and cause cracking or yellowing.

Handle gently

Pearls are delicate. Always fasten and unfasten by the clasp, never pull on the strand. Avoid knocking or rubbing against hard surfaces.

Avoid water and moisture

Do not submerge pearls in water. Remove before showering, swimming, exercising, or exposure to humidity.

Keep away from chemicals

Pearls are alkaline. Household cleaners, perfumes, hairspray, fake tan, and other chemicals can erode the surface and diminish their lustre. Apply fragrance or hair products first, allow them to settle, then put on your pearls.

Skincare first, pearls last

After moisturisers, oils, or sunscreen, wait a few minutes before wearing your pearls. Pearls should be the final touch in your ritual and the first you remove.

Mindful of makeup

Avoid heavy foundation or bronzer on the neck and décolletage. Makeup can transfer onto the thread & pearls and dull the pearl’s natural lustre.

Wipe after wearing

Use a soft, smooth cloth such as pure cotton, unbleached silk, or microfiber to remove traces of chemicals or perspiration. Never use rough, textured, or linty fabrics such as denim, terry towels, wool, or velvet. This simple act after each wear helps maintain the pearl’s glow and longevity.

Long-term care

Avoid ultrasonic cleaners or harsh jewellery solutions. Pearls thrive with gentle, intentional care.
