At Bejba, every piece we create is guided by care for materials, craft, and the people behind them. I, the founder of Bejba, also own a sustainability and responsible sourcing consultancy, Guided by Gaia, bringing both sensitivity and accountability to every decision. I don’t believe in perfection; I believe in progress, in staying curious, transparent, and open to evolution.

Thoughtfully Chosen Origins

Our freshwater pearls are sourced from established pearl-farming regions known for their natural waterways and long-standing expertise in pearl cultivation. These environments, including lakes, reservoirs, and managed freshwater systems, provide the calm, nutrient-rich conditions required for healthy mussels and refined pearl growth.

We work with farms located in regions where pearl craftsmanship has been passed down through generations.

Respect for Water

Water quality is central to responsible pearl farming. Our sourcing partners maintain carefully balanced freshwater environments designed to support mussel health while respecting surrounding ecosystems.

This approach typically includes:

  • Ongoing water monitoring

  • Maintaining natural circulation and oxygen levels

  • Limiting intervention in favour of natural balance

  • Periodic external water testing

These practices support stable conditions that allow pearls to form slowly and naturally.

Balanced Farming Practices

Pearl farms are managed with consideration for space, flow, and long-term vitality. Mussels are not overcrowded, allowing them access to natural nutrients and reducing environmental stress.

This measured approach reflects a belief in quality over quantity.

Natural Nourishment

Packaging

At Bejba, we carefully consider every aspect of our packaging. For everyday delivery, we use FSC-certified, 100% curbside recyclable materials, making it easy to receive your order responsibly. For longer-term care, our lasting packaging is designed to protect your jewellery at home or on the go.

Our pouches, made from recycled, unbleached cotton, provide a breathable place for your pearls. During transit, Hex wrap offers gentle protection.

We include only what is necessary to keep your pieces safe, while also providing a convenient way to store them. As Bejba grows, we continue to review and improve our packaging to ensure it meets both practical and thoughtful care needs.
